These goatskins are tanned in Italy by Conceria Antiba. I first came across this product last year while exploring alternatives for wallet interiors and was very impressed with the samples I received.
Compared to Alran, these skins are on average smaller, with a slightly larger grain pattern, and generally stiffer. I rank these at 5/10 stiffness, I would put Alran at 2-3/10 depending on the hide. In short, if you're familiar with using Alran's goatskins, you will be right at home using these.
These hides carry more shine than Alran. The jewel toned colors like green, teal and blue show that the most while some of the more finished colors are comparatively more matte. They average around 1mm thick un-split, which makes them perfect for single-layer construction right out of the box.
These hides (and the emerald in particular) are aniline dyed, meaning there is some variance in color application and penetration. These hides are very consistent and have slightly less sheen to them than the other more colorful jewel toned hides.
Some range marks and surface defects are visible, but due to the black finishing they are much harder to see which makes it easy to fully utilize hides of this color. I have taken lengths to show here the various range of surfaces you can expect from these hides; they are not perfect but nor are they listed at "perfect" prices.
These run slightly larger than the rest and offer plenty of usable space.
